Joris Ivens on DVD


The Dutch cineast Joris Ivens (1898-1989) was one of the international pioneers of the documentary film. His long carreer as a filmmaker produced a large number of fascinating documentaries.

Digital Film Center will release twelve of these films on DVD medio 2002. This comes about by order of the European Joris Ivens Foundation.
From the early period of Ivens’work, DFC releases among other things the silent movies ‘The Bridge’ (1928) and ‘Rain’ (1929).
The first Dutch soundpicture 'Industrial Symphony', made by Ivens in 1931, will also be released.
Later works that DFC releases on DVD are ‘…Pour le Mistral’ (1965), shot in France, and Ivens’last work ‘Une Histoire de Vent’ (1988).
All films will be subtitled in five different languages.
